Good Enough 04:29
Good Enough Here’s something I made earlier It’s not all right, but it’s not all wrong No masterpiece I made it up as I went along Is it good – enough? Well it’s no perfect 10 I didn’t smash it – I smashed it up again And should it stand or fall I didn’t nail it – when I nailed it to the wall I’m not looking for absolution Can’t even tell you what that means No promised land, no milk and honey No all or nothing, just somewhere in between To live the dream now – it’s never what it seems To play this dream out – and nothing less than love Is good enough, good enough To fix this busted place To see in colour, past the colour of her face Still I don’t understand We live in pieces – every woman every man I’m still looking for resolution A revolution in my head Better wake up, come together Sisters brothers we can sleep when we are dead So live the dream now - it’s never what it seems Let’s play this dream out - And nothing less than love Is good enough is good enough To live this dream out – D-Damascene now And nothing less than love Is good enough, good enough is good enough Come all you dealers You fearless unbelievers Come on you holy rollers You demons winners losers Live the dream now - play this dream out Nothing less than love – is good enough, is good enough Is good enough.

Cosmonaut 04:02
Cosmonaut Hey it’s me - calling out on all redundant frequencies Don’t think you’d know this place It’s all changed, re-arranged It all went wrong You lost your anchor and the ship was gone Now you’re drifting on the solar wind Fading out, fading in What’s it like on the other side? What’s it like, oh brother? Cosmonaut – cosmonaut Are you still on the outer reaches of your inner space? Still surfing time and innocence Of this world, in that place? I had a dream Of all the stars that you and I have seen Of distant galaxies and stranger things Ghostwritten – on your face What’s it like now you’re flying blind? What’s it like, dying Cosmonaut – cosmonaut Sometimes something reminds me A song comes to find me From all the places we’ve been Where words are unspoken, lifelines unbroken In memory – in memory Cosmonaut – cosmonaut Maybe I was dreaming Catch me I am falling I am falling

The World is Not Enough Ever day's an ordinary day You can't believe tomorrow will be any other wa I'll go with you through this land, When you think the world is not enough Read the future in your hands When you feel the world is not enough This world is not enough You tell me that the sun will never rise The darkness has put out the light behind your eyes Take your time, all things will pass When you think you've fallen out of love Hold the moment, make it last When you feel you've fallen out of love And this world is not enough One for sorrow, two for joy All this time alone makes Jack a dull, dull boy Where's the child who used to play? In these four walls that echo with your own voice saying The world is not enough - you've fallen out of love Everybody's waiting for the fall We are only flesh and blood and human after all When I slip and lose my place Tell me that my best is good enough Days when I can't show my face Days when I have fallen out of love And the world is not enough This world is not enough

Going Down 03:40
Going Down Fifty-five years digging this hole Keeps filling up and I never hit gold (going down) Good with my head, good with my hand, Has someone got a job for the invisible man? (going down) Gotta keep the fire inside Grow a thick skin where the thin one died (going down) They say that life is what you make it You’ve got to pick this up and shake it And shake it, shake it down The game’s changed, I’ve got to start again But I don’t know the rules So how’m I gonna win and turn it round? Black dog - visit every day He’s gonna steal my life away and take me down They say that life is what you make it You’ve got to pick it up and shake it Sometimes I feel my heart is breaking Breaking down I’ve been here since I don’t know when Let’s have another drink and play the old song again Spin it round Let’s have another drink and play the old song again (going down) Let’s have another drink and play the old song again (going down)

THE OTHER SIDE / LIBERATION ROAD We’ll see you on the other side Scared and young and beautiful Beneath a thunder sky We’ll see you on the other side Beneath a thunder sky We’ll see you on the other side The other side Woodrow Speed put a bullet in his head Flushing them out of the eagle’s nest Kept on shooting then he laughed and said We’re going all the way, like the wild, wild west Took a jeep to the edge of town They were dug in by the road and they took him down He was crying for his mother as I watched him bleed Just a piece fallen off the big machine That rolls - rolls - rolls - down Liberation Road That rolls – rolls – rolls - to liberation… Eddy wasn’t one for putting on a show A regular guy, an ordinary Joe with a rifle And a 36 grenade Lost count of the kills he made but Man, you should’ve seen him run Screaming like a banshee in the noonday sun For a gentle guy he could be so mean Just another cog in the big machine All along the line they were singing – na na na Sitting by the fire with both bars on Wondering where the years have gone No heros –you’ve got to understand The medals on my chest hide a haunted man And hey – it’s a new world now It don’t care why and it don’t care how Don’t want to hear ‘bout what I’ve seen Too busy looking at the big machine That rolls - rolls - rolls - down Liberation Road That rolls – rolls – rolls - to liberation…

Losing You Again I think I know you I still remember time to time The bonds that hold me here They strain with every year that passes Pulling me out of this atmosphere Where reception’s dropping out I’m losing you again Here there’s no talking Just slow slow walking We’re lost in all our yesterdays Hold me while this moment passes Tell me that my world is still the same Can you feel me fading out? I’m losing you again We are more than memory Even when I’m cold as distant stars I will always be with you It’s human nature She bends she breaks us all apart Makes us strangers Who learn to deal with broken hearts Time will turn the child into the man will turn into the child and then The lights start going out We lose ourselves again Don’t think I know you I don’t remember every time I don’t remember

Me and My Dog Me and my dog, we’ve got places to go Taking the road in the sun and the wind and the snow Places to go Me and my dog, we’ve got places to be Walking along in the silence, my dog and me We’ve got places to be Out of mind, out of sight In the dark and in the light We go left, we go right, through the trees When it’s all falling down Don’t look back, don’t turn around We can walk out of town, you and me Me and my dog, we don’t talk things through But we work it all out, and somehow we get to the truth It’s just what we do Under the sky, over the ground Time passes by, digging for things to be found They hide underground (Chorus) Me and my dog, out here every day Chasing the leaves and the clouds and the blues away Chasing the blues away…

Happy Now 04:52
Happy Now? Are you listening? Is it static on the line? Or me talking? Or the voices in your mind? Are you happy now? Are you happy now? Years go by in dreams of turning water into wine Now your cup is overflowing ‘Cos you finished all of mine Is anybody home? Hello, can you hear me? You’ve broken everything, that I held near me Can you hear me? Are you happy now? Are you happy now? May your life be ever joyful May your brand-new love prevail May you find the road to heaven With a hellhound on your tail Is anybody home? Come on, I’m still waiting You used to be the one who did the explaining I’m still waiting, now you’ve broken everything Is anybody home? Is anybody home? Is anybody home? Are you happy now? I am happy now.

Annie’s on Another Star Here’s another letter I can’t send Can’t find the words, but then again How did I ever doubt you? How do I live without you? I made a friend across the street You always said I’d find my feet But I still think about you How could I ever doubt you? Annie’s on another star She is out there somewhere flying Annie’s on another star And I know she’s shining I’m still waiting for the sun You lie beneath another one But each day I bless the weather So what if it rains forever? (Chorus) Every night I watch the sky Trying to find a way to say goodbye I had to tell you this, I had to tell you this I had to tell you this (Chorus)
10.
You’ve Got To Go Of all the things I’ve done, the finest one was living Can you forgive me now, for life is unforgiving? I was never the perfect man, I hope you understand When you’ve got to go – when you’ve got to go Most of my friends are gone, I won’t be far behind them I don’t know where they are, I wonder if I’ll find them Don’t want to see this through, but what are you going to do? When you’ve got to go – now I’ve got to go Heaven or hell or someplace in between I don’t really care But when my life flashes by, in front of my eyes Can you please slow it down at the bits where I just wasn’t there? It seems like yesterday the road went on forever I’d watch you run and run and play in the sun together You were my perfect song I was lucky to sing along But I’ve got to go, now I’ve got to go I’ve just got to go…

about

It's about time - both the songs on this album and the fact that I've only just gotten around to making my first solo album at the tender age of 58. Maybe I'm a late developer. Or maybe I've just been a bit backward about coming forward. Either way, it's about bleedin' time.

I've been writing songs all my life, but they've invariably been for other people to sing. It never occurred to me that I could sing them myself. With my 'lineage', I perhaps didn't feel capable; not so much ‘not worthy’ as a fear of failure.

Over the past few years, I’ve had a protracted walk with The Black Dog. In coming home and locking him in his kennel, I've changed my definition of failure. Failure is the passive act of ‘not doing’ - time is just too short.

So here you go .... bloke (finally) makes album.
